Final Report .. coming soon

The final report (Phase 3) is under preparation and will be issued soon.
Work is in its final stage in analysing the data to develope the mathemaatical models for predicting pavement temperature.

Completion of Phase II


Phase II of the PG study was completed on the 31st August 2009. The Phase two report was submitted to the Road and Bridge department (RABA). After the assessment and approval of the report by the BRD the report will be published and parts of the report will be posted here.

A new station launched near Agdabya


A new PG station launched on the 2nd of July 2009 near Agdabya. The station is located at the public security check point (Sidi Abdulati); 60 Km east of Agdabya, on Agdabya-Benghazi road. The asphalt slab was constructed by Strabag and the instrumentation was installed by PG Research team at OEC.

More info about new PG stations

4 new monitoring stations were installed in different regions of Libya. They were at Bozrreg, Derna, Gtroon and Jofra. These are some fotos of the stations:

Installing another 5 stations for PG study in Libya

Abdulalim Youns and Jamal Aghbash, from OEC started a new phase of the field study to install another 5 monitoring stations. This phase includes Agdabya, Abozrreg, Gatron, Jofra and Derna. These monitoring stations are to measure the asphalt temperature and other envronmental data as air temperature, solar radiation and wind speed. This field work is a crusial part of the comprehensive research study that will lead to the determination of the proper PG asphalt binder for Libyan pavements. More details will be posted soon.

Update of PG study

Testing the stations

On the 10th of Feb 2009 the 1st follow up report was submitted to the Road & Bridge Department. The report presents the current condition of the study. The report contains information about the instruments and equipments imported for the field study. It also reports the progress of construction and installation of the monitoring stations in different parts of the country. The report shows a sample of the results recorded by number of stations that entered the service by the date of the report.
